The commentators (McMahon, Ross, and Hennig) spoke positively of Bret early in the match, but really bury him in favor of Diesel as time goes on. Jamison, who is a huge mark for all the babyfaces on the roster, first debuted on the Bobby Heenan Show in 1989, before becoming a re-occuring character on Prime Time Wrestling throughout 1991.

After this PPV, Jamison made one more appearance on the February 16th 1992 episode of Wrestling Challenge where Sid smashed up Brutus Beefcake's Barber Shop before disappearing for good.

However, Vince would revisit the idea of huge marks again in late 1994/early 1995 with Charlie Minn, an Asian reporter, and in late 1996/early 1997 with George and Adam, two dorks who appeared at the 1997 Slammy Awards, wetting themselves when The Undertaker showed up to claim his Best Tattoo's Award.

Re: “On the Marc” WrestleMania VIII Review

Another thing I really need to bring up is the colossal failure that is the World Bodybuilding Federation. Vince McMahon has always had a thing for grotesquely huge muscular oily men in speedo's. It's no small wonder why every wrestler at their peak in the WWF was also at their most largest and most ripped, physique-wise.

In the bodybuilding world, the International Federation of BodyBuilders has been king since 1946. Vince booked an exhibition booth at the IFBB's Mr. Olympia contest held on September 15th 1990 in Chicago under the guise of simply promoting a new bodybuilding magazine called "Bodybuilding Lifestyles". But then, Vince opened the Trojan Horse by underhandedly distributing flyers for his own new federation called the WBF.

So, in a whirlwind of hype, flaunting money, pay-offs, and VIP treatments, Vince unveiled 13 previously established IFBB contestants, Aaron Baker, Mike Christian, Vince Comerford, David Dearth, Berry DeMey, Johnnie Morant, Danny Padilla, Tony Pearson, Jim Quinn, Mike Quinn, Eddie Robinson, Gary Strydom (who became the WBF's version of Hulk Hogan), and Troy Zuccolotto, at the WBF's unveiling on January 30th 1991 in New York's Plaza Hotel.

Between the magazine, the weekly TV show called WBF BodyStars on USA Network, and cross-promoting on WWF Superstars, all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fell into place. The two WBF Championships would be held at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 15th 1991, and the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center in Long Beach, California on June 13th 1992.

Now, here's where it all goes downhill:

First off, Vince hyped Lou Ferrigno as the #1 contender to Gary Strydom's WBF Championship for the June 1992 contest, but as the appearance date approached, Vince and Ferrigno couldn't reach a final agreement and the appearance was scrapped.

Second, the steroid scandal had showed its ugly face in the WWF in 1991, where Vince admitted to experimenting with steroids at a time where the WBF was promoted as being "drug-free", which obviously the bodybuilers weren't. Then the sex scandal hit the WWF in 1992, so there was a lot of things happening at the same time. Maybe Gary Strydom shouldn't have won the contests over some of the other competitors.

Third and finally, more importantly, at its core, the contests themselves were awful! Critics panned Vince for gimmicking the contestants, giving them characters WWF style, which is also one of the main detractions of the XFL as well. So, fans of bodybuilding just wanted a pure sport, but Vince wanted to give them sports entertainment. As a result, trying to please both wrestling fans and bodybuilding fans flat-out failed.

On July 15th 1992, after a year and a half, two failed contests, and losing $15 million, Vince called it quits on bodybuilding, and those 13 athletes were allowed to return to the IFBB the next year after being fined 10% of their WBF wages, because they left to go join that ruthless businessman in Conneticut.

While those same 13 athletes did sell out to Vince, the rest of the IFBB roster just said about the WBF, "Stay away from this. This is obviously a short term gain, long time you're fucked!" So, the magazine stops and the BodyStars TV show gets cancelled, but you could still see the remnants of Vince investing in bodybuilding supplements called the Integrated Conditioning Program aka "ICOPRO" (with its awesome slogan "You've Gotta Want It!"), which Vince would continue to pimp on WWF TV and PPV from mid 1992 to mid 1995.

Re: “On the Marc” 07/15/2013 Monday Night Raw Review

The six man stables seem to be the wave f the future in WWE. It's a shame they didn't capitalize on it and just had Taker and Jake harass Macho Man at his wedding. A Warrior/Snake match would have been fun to see.

Re: “On the Marc” Summerslam ’91 Review

I've gotta point out another thing, and that's the WWF's hottest feud of the summer of 1991: The Ultimate Warrior vs. The Undertaker.

After WrestleMania 7, The Ultimate Warrior was a guest on Paul Bearer's talk show segment called "The Funeral Parlor", on the April 13th episode of Superstars, where The Undertaker attacked Warrior and locked him in an air-tight casket to die. Several road agents and referees struggled to break open the impromptu tomb, and when they finally did, Earl Hebner successfully applied CPR on Warrior, who came back a changed man, and thus began a very popular house show feud between Warrior and Taker, which sold many tickets.

Three months later, on the July 27th episode of Superstars, Jake Roberts came on the Funeral Parlor and told Bearer that he would help train Warrior with the secrets of the dark side in order to defeat Taker. Jake asked Warrior to "trust" him, he accepted, and we were treated to three trials Jake had set up for Warrior.

The first trial involved Warrior having to lay still in a sealed casket, returning like a dead man, his eyes serene and empty.

For the second trial, Warrior dug up a grave in a cemetery, found a skull, and spent the night being buried up to his neck to stare at the skull until morning.

The final trial required Warrior to go into a little snake pit and ask the cobra Lucifer about his fate. Warrior reluctantly opened up a little casket ornament on a pedestal, and a cobra appeared, striking and biting Warrior, who struggled and knocked down the door trying to escape! As the venom spread through his veins, Warrior passed out, but not before he saw Taker and Bearer staring above him, and Jake laughing. The Warrior was a fool to trust a snake after all!

So, as a result, Jake Roberts had officially turned heel by siding with The Undertaker and Paul Bearer. Sadly, this feud was never mentioned on this PPV.

Re: “On the Marc” Summerslam ’92 Review

On a side note, on the British broadcast, in between Disasters vs. Beverlies and Savage vs. Warrior, Sky Sports took a small break so Richard Keys and Andy "The Shitebag" Gray could talk about the footy match between Norwich and Nottingham Forest, which isn't so bad until you found out that they cut out Repo vs. Crush from the Sky Sports broadcast of the pay-per-view.

Re: “On the Marc” 1992 Royal Rumble Review

I for some reason always loved Sid.
